NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING OF CATOOSA UTILITY DISTRICT AUTHORITY
The annual meeting of the consumer members of the Catoosa Utility District will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the office of the Catoosa Utility District Authority at 1058 Old Mill Road, Ringgold, Georgia, 30736. The purpose of the meeting will be to conduct all business that is properly presented to the meeting and to elect a member to the Board of Utility Commissioners to fill the expiring term of Richard Dycus. Voting will begin at 7:00 a.m. eastern daylight time and continue until 7:00 p.m. The business meeting will commence at 6:00 p.m.
Any person desiring to qualify as a candidate for election to the Board of Utility Commissioners to fill the expiring term of Richard Dycus, shall qualify for election by filing a written notice of candidacy with the Catoosa Utility District Authority at its office. To qualify the candidate must pay a $162.00 qualifying fee, be a qualified voter, at least 18 years of age, and a consumer of the services of the Catoosa Utility District Authority. The notice of candidacy shall be filed during normal business hours, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on September 1, 2020 through September 4, 2020, and on September 8, 2020.
The ballots shall be counted on the date of the meeting, after the close of the voting at 7:00 p.m. An announcement of the results shall be made after the votes are tabulated. In the event any candidate fails to receive a majority of the votes cast, a run-off election shall be conducted from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Such run-off election shall be conducted in the same manner and hours for voting as the initial election except that the call shall be issued immediately following the announcement of the results of the vote and only the names of the two people receiving the highest and second highest number of votes in the initial election shall be placed on the run-off ballot.
In accordance with an Act of the General Assembly the term “consumer member” means an individual named on a Utility Account of the Catoosa Utility District Authority or his or her spouse. Each consumer member shall have one vote, regardless of the number of family members, properties owned or utility meters in the name of such a member or his or her spouse. If a corporate account or entity has multiple accounts in the same name only one vote may be cast under that name. One representative from a corporation, business or company may cast one vote for said corporation, business or company. The representative must provide a letter from the corporation, business or company stating the representative’s position and authorization to vote.
The term “consumer member” shall not include entities which purchase excess water for resale from Catoosa Utility District Authority. No voting by proxy is allowed.
Identification will be required to vote.
